Three days of mountaineering with @cpnolimit74, with a modest programme: climbing the Cosmiques ridge, then getting to grips with the high-altitude peaks around Mont Rose.
Cédric "s ease on snow and ice, which I had already seen in action on rocky ridges, immediately convinced me that our objective would be more ambitious, while remaining realistic.
The traverse of the Lyskamm, a snow race I've always dreamed of doing, is just a crampon's reach away. On the way up to the Col de Lys, on the right is the easy option, a glacier hike over the classic 4000m. To the left, a long, tapering snow ridge where a fall is out of the question. The race is in excellent conditions, the weather stable and good, the partner at the right level, even if he doesn't realise it yet. Am I overestimating him, to confirm my decision and satisfy my personal desires? I'm giving it a lot of thought, but I don't think I'm prone to judgement bias. The fast and smooth running of the race will prove me right.
Well done Cédric 👏
