Introduction to Chartreuse ridge running: An easy, aerial first experience in the heart of the massif.
Would you like to discover what it's like to walk and climb on a rocky ridge, roped up with a guide? Then this is the outing for you: a first ridge run, guided from start to finish, in the Chartreuse massif, Saint Pierre d'Entremont sector.
The route is deliberately kept confidential, to preserve its wild ambience and avoid the crowds. We'll arrange to meet once we've confirmed your booking. Good rock, an airy atmosphere, open views over the massif, a feeling of height, all in an unspoilt setting. Be prepared to see some wildlife, especially Chamois!
You'll experience a real ridge race, without having to manage the technical aspects: I'll take care of the ropes, the progress, the pace and the safety. All you have to do is enjoy! With short lengths of easy climbing, simultaneous progression and even a short but magnificent final abseil (not compulsory), this route is a compendium of everything a rocky ridge has to offer.
At the summit, we take the time to enjoy a small snack. We can take a picnic with us if you like, but for this outing, I'd highly recommend giving in to temptation: a delicious inn awaits us just below, at the foot of the mountain where we parked.

No, the ridge is easy, and you're supervised from start to finish? You just need to be comfortable in mountain terrain and not be afraid of the aerial atmosphere.
Yes, in the broadest sense of the term. It's easy rock climbing, without glacier or snow, but with all the ingredients of a ridge race: roping up, climbing, exposed sections, abseiling.
Allow half a day, 5 hours for the loop without hurrying. 30-minute approach hike, 3? hours on the ridge, 1 hour back from the summit.
Hard-soled mountain boots or hiking boots, a small bag, water, a windbreaker and preferably light trousers. I'll bring my technical equipment: rope, harness, helmet, etc.
Yes. Typically two people, or three, but discuss this together beforehand. You need to keep things fluid and safe to ensure that you have a good time together.
Yes, after a telephone call or e-mail. The location will remain confidential until then, to preserve the calm and wild atmosphere of this little-frequented race.
Yes, that's precisely the aim: to introduce you to rock climbing on an accessible ridge in the Chartreuse, with no pressure and no technical prerequisites. You are supervised on a permanent basis and can simply enjoy the atmosphere and the scenery.
Easy ridge climbs in the Chartreuse are generally done from April to October, depending on the weather and the state of the rock. In summer, when it can be hotter, adjust your departure time to take advantage of the cooler weather!
Live with your guide, from first contact to the summit.
