The Dômes de Miage are a succession of peaks around 3600m, above the Tré-la-Tête basin. The route, which is very popular with both skiers and mountaineers, owes its success to its superb snow ridge and its ease, making it an ideal beginner's route.
Rendezvous at 6.00 pm the day before for a briefing and equipment review.
On the first day, we go up to the Tré-la-Tête glacier for an ice school. We play in the relief of the glacier, and you learn how to crampon and use your ice axe. We then return to the Conscrits hut where we spend the night. Allow 6 hours for the walk.
Wake up early to set foot on the Tré-la-Tête glacier and climb up to the Col des Dômes. The walk takes around 3 hours. During these early hours, the sun rises and illuminates the peaks of the Tré-la-Tête basin. We then head west across the Dômes de Miage, along a beautiful ridge of snow, to the Bérangère. A slightly steeper descent in snow and ice, then we head for the Conscrits refuge from where we set off in the morning. We have a good meal to cheer us up, and start the final descent to the valley floor at Les Contamines. It's a 10-hour walk in total.

You don't need to have done any mountaineering before, but you do need to be in good physical shape and used to walking for several hours in the mountains. The second day is long, with around 10 hours of effort: you need to enjoy long days outdoors and know how to manage your energy.
Technically, the Dômes de Miage traverse is a beginner's route over glacial terrain, with a narrow but accessible snow ridge. What makes it a real challenge is the length of the route and the altitude.
Yes, I can lend you all the technical equipment: crampons, ice axe, harness, helmet. You'll need to bring a suitable rucksack, good mountaineering boots and your personal equipment (warm clothes, rucksack sheet, etc.).
I pay close attention to the weather and mountain conditions on the previous days. If the weather is unfavourable, I suggest an alternative or a postponement. I will contact you directly to decide on the best option together.
