Grande Voie Chartreuse: beginners or advanced. A day of long-distance climbing in the Chartreuse. Climb higher, with confidence.
If you're a beginner crag climber and want to get some height, or if you already have experience of long routes and are looking to discover the beautiful routes of the Chartreuse, I can offer you a tailor-made day on a crag, supervised and adapted to your level.
From the sculpted limestone of the Charmant Som slabs to the great flights of the Cochette, and why not as far as the Rocher du Midi or the Fouda Blanc if you're ready: the Chartreuse is full of great lines that are accessible without sacrificing the mountain atmosphere.
For beginners: discover the grande voie gently
Young teenagers, adult beginners or indoor climbers who want to move up to the crag: I'll take you on your first big route, as a second climber, without any pressure.
We take the time to review the basics: belaying on long routes, belaying, communication and safety. A simple route, a natural setting, the pleasure of climbing several pitches above the void, closely supervised.
👉 Examples: Dalles du Charmant Som, small easy long routes at La Cochette.
For the initiated and experienced: going the extra mile
Do you already have experience of long-distance climbing? We'll choose a route to suit you, depending on your level and your mood for the day.
I'll take you as a second on longer, sometimes more sustained lines, to discover the vertical atmosphere of the Chartreuse without having to manage the route or the belay.
👉 Examples: big routes at La Cochette, Rocher du Midi, Fouda Blanc, depending on conditions and your fitness.
Each outing is built around you. We talk beforehand, I suggest suitable options, and I manage the rest: itinerary, safety, collective equipment.
Yes, if you already climb a bit on the crag or indoors. We start by reviewing the basics on the ground (belays, communication, safety), then we set off on a first major route in the Chartreuse, in second gear, at an appropriate pace. The massif offers perfect routes for a gentle start.
I offer you a selection of major Chartreuse routes adapted to your level: Cochette, Rocher du Midi, Fouda Blanc, depending on the conditions and your current form. You'll climb as a second in command, on beautiful lines of varying degrees of difficulty, without having to manage the route or the manoeuvres.
If you can prove to me that you're capable of it and inspire my confidence, why not in pitches where you have the margin! But often the idea of hiring a guide is an opportunity to concentrate on the pleasure of climbing, on the way you move and on the atmosphere. If you're looking to progress towards autonomy in the lead, I also organise courses dedicated to that.
In the Chartreuse massif. Depending on the conditions (weather, visitor numbers), I choose a suitable sector: Charmant Som, Cochette, Rocher du Midi, etc. The precise location is confirmed the day before.
You need to be comfortable in 5a/5b as a second for an easy route, or 5c/6a for longer or more challenging routes. If you're new to cliff climbing, I'll guide you on a great Chartreuse route that's perfect for a first-timer.
I provide the collective equipment (ropes, quickdraws, safety equipment). For your part, you'll need: climbing shoes, a light rucksack, mountain-appropriate clothing, water and a picnic. I'll send you a full list once you've signed up.
Live with your guide, from first contact to the summit.
