Between the Rocher de Fitta and the Pinet, the Fouda Blanc and Pinet straps form the longest perched path in the Chartreuse: over 3km! Unforgettable memories of this long, vertiginous traverse, which then leads to the magnificent Alpette plateau.
From the Les Varvats car park, we follow a forest road and then a steep path through the woods towards Pré de Pratcel and Pas de l'Echelle. We then leave the path to take the gully to the west, skirting the summit of Roche de Fitta under the bars.
From here, the strap climbs northwards and winds its way along the sides of the mountain, perched between two rocky limestone bars, where we are sure to spot some Chamois. The first, more aerial section ends at the Grotte à l'Echelle. Below the summit of Le Pinet, a few switchbacks wind between the rocks, giving easy access to the summit plateau. The Alpette, the Granier and the Rocher de Belles Ombres (another strap), Belledonne and Mont-Blanc come into view. After a picnic break, we follow the ridge to the Fouda Blanc, before descending via the Haberts de St Vincent and the Pas de l'Echelle.

This is a long, technical route. To enjoy it, you need to be a regular walker, at ease on narrow and sometimes steep paths. I'm here to help you feel safe and confident on the trickier sections.
Helmets and harnesses are safety equipment, useful if you feel uncomfortable on a steep section. They shouldn't be necessary, but they can be used in a stressful situation if one of the participants needs them.
Yes, it is possible to do the tour with 10 year-olds, provided they are very good walkers and able to follow the instructions at key points. In this case, the adults need to be comfortable. I cannot supervise a whole group of people in difficulty on this route. Don't worry, we can always adapt during the outing!
This is a full-day outing, meeting in the morning and returning at the end of the afternoon. Picnic lunch in the mountains.
In the event of bad weather, I will suggest alternative outings, or reschedule. The straps cannot be used if the ground is wet!
