Beginner touring skier

Ski touring in the Vanoise, from beginners to major alpine and glacier traverses. Straddling the Tarentaise and Maurienne regions, the Vanoise stretches from Valmorel to Val d'Isère, and from Saint-François-Longchamp to Aussois, Val Cenis, Bessans and Bonneval. It is a geologically highly varied massif, culminating at 3855 m at Grande Casse, and home to the largest ice cap in Western Europe, the Vanoise glaciers.

Here you can ski from the gentle mountain pastures surrounded by spruce trees, up the steep, narrow slopes of the Portetta massif, to the high glacial peaks. Come with me for a day's introduction to skiing, a few days' immersion in a comfortable refuge (Plan Lombardie, Roc de la Pêche, Peclet Polset, La Glière, Col de la Vanoise), or an alpine and glacier traverse to explore the most secret corners of the massif and enjoy exceptional panoramas.

Among the countless itineraries are the Cheval Noir, Bellachat, Grand Coin and Nielard, Mont Jovet and Dôme des Archers, the Plan Fournier mountain pastures, Grand Bec and Bellecôte for the high Galcier peaks, and the Grande Casse via the Grands Couloirs glacier or its north face. The many couloirs of the Portetta massif, the crossing of the Vanoise glaciers, the Dent Parrachée and the Aiguille de Polset, the Pointe de la Sanna between the Leisse and Femma valleys... the list goes on and on.

A vast and varied mountain range that's easy to access by car and public transport: direct TGV from Paris to Moûtiers, Bourg-Saint-Maurice and Modane.
