An alpine and wild crossing of the Écrins, from La Grave to Monêtier-les-Bains, via the Selle, the Promontoire, Chamoissière and the Neige Cordier area. With a 5- or 6-day variant depending on desire and conditions.
This ski crossing of the Écrins allows you to explore the massif over several days, from refuge to refuge, passing through some of its most emblematic sectors.
From La Grave, the lifts allow you to gain altitude quickly before descending to the refuge de la Selle. The route then joins the refuge du Promontoire, located at the foot of the south face of the Meije.
After another col crossing, we reach the refuge of Chamoissière. Depending on the conditions, the group’s level and the interest of the day, this stage can be supplemented with the Grande Ruine or another suitable summit.
The journey then continues with a beautiful day of ski mountaineering around the Pic de Neige Cordier, before turning towards the area of the Écrins refuge or directly towards the refuge of Glacier Blanc.
That’s when the two formats separate:
5 days: After Pic de Neige Cordier, we continue directly towards the refuge of Glacier Blanc.
6 days: We first reach the Écrins refuge. The next day, the Écrins Dome can be considered depending on the conditions, before descending to the Glacier Blanc refuge.
The last day allows you to cross the Col de Monêtier or, depending on the conditions and the skiing level of the group, consider the Agneaux valley before the long descent towards Le Monêtier-les-Bains.
The Ecrins ski crossing is offered in small groups of 3 to 4 people maximum, with departures guaranteed starting from 3 participants. The route, the summits, and the choice of format are adapted to the conditions of the mountain.
Level
This ski crossing of the Écrins is aimed at experienced mountain hikers who are able to spend several days in the mountains and ski on varied terrains, sometimes icy ones.
Good control of skiing on variable snow conditions is necessary, as well as experience with alpine skiing equipment and techniques.
The days are long and some objectives, such as the Dôme des Écrins or the Agneaux plateau, are only offered when the conditions and the level of the group allow it.
