Adventure field autonomy course

This adventure-based self-reliance course is aimed at climbers already autonomous on equipped multi-pitch routes wishing to move towards the practice of via ferrata and adventure terrain.

The autonomous outdoor adventure course teaches how to manage your progression without pre-placed equipment, using removable protection like cams and nuts. The objective is to become capable of building relays, securing a line, and moving autonomously over varied terrain.

We work in the south-eastern quarter of France, on sites chosen according to conditions: Bauges, Vercors, Verdon, Calanques, Écrins or Drôme provençale. The terrain allows for gradual progression between an easy climbing cliff and semi-equipped multi-pitch routes.

Internship objectives

The aim of the 'Adventure Terrain Autonomy' internship is to enable safe progression in sparsely equipped terrain. We cover:

– the installation of passive and active protection,
– the construction of relays on protections,
– reading a multi-pitch climbing route,
– the management of belaying and hauling,
– the basics of survival and rescue situations.

Frequently asked questions

This adventure self-sufficiency field course is aimed at autonomous multi-pitch equipped climbers wishing to move towards adventure climbing.

You need to climb a 5 lead and be self-sufficient on equipped multi-pitch routes.

The aim is to learn how to place reliable protection, build belays, read a route and climb your first pitches and then your first multi-pitch routes with semi-protection using cams and nuts.

We are working on placing protection, belay devices, different rope setups, handling, climbing technique and movement, route management, and rope team management.

You must have your personal climbing equipment, your ropes, and ideally the start of an adventure trad rack with some cams and nuts. I can supplement as needed.

The internship takes place at various sites in the south-east quarter of France, chosen according to weather conditions and the group's objectives: Bauges, Vercors, Verdon, Calanques, Écrins or Drôme provençale.
