Via ferrata du Roc de Cornillon: the via ferrata above Lac du Bourget, accessible to all.
Children aged 8 and over.
Departing from the Col du Chat, the via-ferrata winds its way around the Roc du Cornillon, offering breathtaking views over Lac du Bourget. Although easy, it's a thrill!
Car park at the Col du Chat. From here, it's a 25-minute climb on foot to the start of the via ferrata at Roc du Cornillon.
The via-ferrata consists of two sections, "Primevère à Oreille d'Ours" followed by "Cornillon".
The first part of the traverse is the most impressive, and you may decide to avoid it if you are not comfortable with heights. After a short traverse on a rocky ledge facing the lake, you come to a tiered passage of beams and a very short monkey bridge, which you reach by climbing some fairly short pillars. We then traverse along the wall, still with the lake on our left and the Cat's Tooth at our back. A few footholds (in natural holes in the wall) fall logically under our shoes and bring the traverse to an end. Then begins the easy climb up the final pillar for about fifty metres. Exit to a rocky belvedere. The views are magnificent. The return path takes us back to the start, a 15-minute descent to the Col du Chat.
