The Infernet canyon is one of the most beautiful canyoning routes in the Chartreuse. Carved by the Vence river, it offers a spectacular atmosphere in a very narrow gorge where the walls close in tens of metres above your head. The immersion is total: once you're in the canyon, there's no escape until the exit.
Comparable to Groin Canyon in the Bugey or to Devil's Canyon In the Bauges, the Infernolet canyon is even more impressive due to the depth and narrowness of its gorge.
Despite its wild nature, this canyon in Chartreuse is particularly playful. You'll link together numerous small natural slides, a few jumps (always optional when conditions allow), water passages, and several abseils in an exceptional setting.
After nearly two hours of progress beneath the cliffs, the River Vence abruptly re-emerges from the rock and the canyon opens up almost as quickly as it had closed.
The Infernet canyon remains, however, an outing reserved for those who already have some prior canyoning experience. The first vertical descent is made directly in line with the waterfall and requires you to be comfortable with abseiling. Of course, I will accompany and secure you throughout the descent.

The Infernet canyon is more suited to people who have already tried canyoning. The first abseil is high and takes place near the waterfall. This requires a basic level of technical confidence. If you are new to the activity, I would rather direct you to a more accessible canyon in Chartreuse or elsewhere.
No. As with all my canyoning trips, jumps remain optional when an alternative exists. You will be able to bypass most obstacles by using the abseil or a prepared passage.
The Infernet canyon is mainly navigated in the summer. This descent is only possible when the flow of the Vence river is sufficiently low to ensure safe progression. Conditions are systematically checked before each outing.

For the most athletic practitioners, it is also possible to do two descents in the same day, for example with the Furon canyon, another must-see in the Grenoble region. I will advise you on the most suitable combination based on your level, current conditions and your desires.
